On March 5, 2022, a tornado destroyed Pin Oak Lodge. The Lucas County Conservation Board is currently in the process of rebuilding and construction is set to begin December 1, 2023.
Located one mile south of Chariton on Hwy 14 on a wetland area called Pin Oak Marsh, Pin Oak Lodge was the headquarters for conservation staff and an environmental education center that housed all kinds of wildlife displays and exhibits. Everything will be replaced in the facility and additional displays added. It is hoped that it will be open by March 5, 2024, the two-year anniversary of the destruction.
For those who have reached out about donations, they can be sent to us at Lucas County Conservation, P.O. Box 78, Chariton 50049. We are so thankful for your support.
